I grip the steel as if it were my lifeline,
Watching the embers as they fill the night sky,
Burning visions of the war machine,
Drown out the guilt with the sound of their screams
Heirbringer,
Of the black air filling up my fucking lungs,
Trek through bodies slaughtered by our hands,
A red river cut to build these wastelands,
Heirbringer,
Bare the horns, the mark of the goat,
Genocide in the name of peace,
Fuck your endless wealth, it means nothing to me
The mark of the goat
A cold sweat seeps over my skin,
I lose the moon overhead as the cloud spins,
A maze of branches broken and beat from the storm,
The dead will never rest,
Asylum from the winds and shards of glass they whip,
Into my lungs, never safe and sound from this,
A lonely man broken and beat from the storm,
The dead will never rest, (they beg for nothing more)
I grip the steel as if it were my lifeline,
Watching the embers as they fill the night sky,
Burning visions of the war machine,
Drown out the guilt with the sound of their screams
Death, in the name of progress,
(We struggle for far too long),
Purity in his absence,
Deep in the woods, bare the fucking horns
Heirbringer,
Of the black air filling up my fucking lungs,
Trek through bodies slaughtered by our hands,
A red river cut to build these wastelands,
Heirbringer,
Bare the horns, the mark of the goat,
Genocide in the name of peace,
Fuck your endless wealth, it means nothing to me
The mark of the goat

Wonderful dramatic opening, the voice of a black woman in all her honesty, vulnerability and openess. And then one of the fiercest tracks of Zulu, total hardcore: 'Now they are through with me', full of twists and turns, and suddenly ending in a kind of soul-track, brilliant! This is 21st century music at it's best. The end lecture is dramatic and disturbing, spoken again by a black woman. Makes you think. Hesperus
