I've seen the war that spreads through this land,
The depths of bloodshed cast by his holy hands,
Conflict encases the mind, absolves progress from time,
Lay rest the receptors (but they flicker) in the night
(Insight),
Rip apart my faith, cut the veins, let go,
Give these mortal eyes new light (let the night take hold)
Rip apart my faith, cut the veins, let go,
Alerted to the voices (when they whisper) from the woods
Answer their call
I've seen the war that spreads through this land,
Spilling our own blood under God's command,
(Mislead) leaving the ground they walked shook,
Impale of rot drawing lines on the shrines that you took
Garnered the wicked, banished them of their creed,
Blind to the unsubtle twist of irony,
A familiar voice calls out to me,
I'm afraid to go alone, to where the light cannot reach
I can't get my head free of this lingering anomaly,
Mislead, trace these steps, quick before,
I don't think I can feel love anymore
We steep too many skulls within the river styx,
I feel the serpents breath linger on the back of my neck,
We steep too many skulls,
Disregard consequence,
The world that we were promised has been forsaken

Lyrics by Anthony Messina
Wonderful dramatic opening, the voice of a black woman in all her honesty, vulnerability and openess. And then one of the fiercest tracks of Zulu, total hardcore: 'Now they are through with me', full of twists and turns, and suddenly ending in a kind of soul-track, brilliant! This is 21st century music at it's best. The end lecture is dramatic and disturbing, spoken again by a black woman. Makes you think. Hesperus
